cp /mnt/cdrom/VMwareTools-version.tar.gz /tmp/
  • Extract the files using the following command
tar -zxvf VMwareTools-version.tar.gz
  • Navigate to the extracted directory and Run the installation script
cd vmware-tools-distrib 
  1. Reboot the VM to complete the VMware Tools upgrade to version 12.2.5.

      12.1.5-3 is available for the debian based linux, You can directly install using the command “apt install open-vm-tools”
      if you want to download the latest version, Then you need to download from the VMware customer connect portal and install that manually.
